Beezer, enjoying his bed of paper...not as it appears, he is live and kicking and just enjoys boxes filled with paper :-)

New Hens .....
The hens are here....we have an old coop that we are going to demolish and a new roost/ laying box ready, we are just waiting for the wired enclosure before the girls can move in.......for the moment we are giving them freedom to walk around the garden for a little bit at a time, and then they are locked into their old coop. Previous experience has taught us that the garden will soon be full of dusty trenches and bereft of any plant life, so they are going to have a static coop with freedom only under supervision, usually in the afternoons.
I thought that the dogs would tolerate the hens, they seemed to get on fine until Gert came over and pecked Beezer ( the brown dog ) right between the eyes!!!! feathers an squawking and a running tackle from me separated them........the wire enclosure cannot get here fast enough for me! Now the two little darlings are sitting by the old coop just waiting for a hen to show its head........butter wouldn't melt would it, look at their expressions, they don't want to kill them, they just want to taste one......

finished
I think these 6 domes are finished to my satisfaction, one of my other domes has had to be changed because the doll was so fragile she split at her seams where I had arranged her.....a little surgery or another doll will be needed.......soon I will make sense of all of this.....lots of ideas but not going to explain yet, as once i let ideas out of my head they seem to fly away...........

the cast is growing
The cast for my fairytale theatre has grown and grown.....I really must get on with the next stage....or I can see that I will be just collecting stuff for the sake of it. I am getting rather fond of the strange narratives that these objects are showing me as I haphazardly pop them on the shelf....... I may look out for some key elements....keys eggs, castles heart etc, but I think I have enough 'characters' now

new addition
Ok I have given in and spent 'real' money on this staircase. I bought it for the largest dome I have, but it is just a squeek too large, so now I will have to find a way to make it free standing......I love it! and when it is painted white it will look amazing, but it was pricey and now i must stop, and stick by my charity shop / carboot rule........ It is lovely tho' don't you think :-)
crow
I may be getting a little silly now...... I have found some decoy crows...very cheap, and then when i was buying paint yesterday there was a bunch of keys in the garden section of the store......so I have put them together.....where on earth is this all going? I really don't know yet, but it is all towards an exhibition I hope....paintings / drawings next :-)

photos of the sets so far...
The Fairytale narrative is working quite well in these toys/ ornaments......some I am putting under glass domes, others are free to roam :-)
I am getting frustrated that I cant find the exact objects I am looking for, i have plans and scenes in my head but I have to wait until the objects can be found. I am setting myself the task that they should all be bought at car boot sales and charity shops.........finding them and giving them a new life is a source of great enjoyment for me :-)

collection
my collection is growing.....my camera has run out of batteries now so I can't get on with taking any more pics until tomorrow, but so far so good.....I have had fun with this lot and have even had to empty out my bookcase to house them. I have so many ideas running through my head I can't seem to settle on just one. I have a small exhibition to put up this week and when that is done I may be able to settle down to working on my new ideas.

an old trick
getting mismatched objects spraying / painting them an all over colour makes them more compatible....this weekends flea market finds are not what I would like in my home usually, but i am in a frivilous mood at the moment and wanted a cheap, quick fix.....now they are all white I can put them together...what do you think? nice? Have a look here on flickr to see what I did with them :-)

finished....
I have finished this painting, its not making me a very happy artist as I can see a lot of Disney type things about it, but I will leave it as it is. I need something colourful for space I am exhibiting in, and I think it will hold its own in the small quite dark gallery.....
I am now going to work on some small canvases for a restaurant I exhibit in, impulse buys for happy diners......well don't shoot me, it pays for materials :-)

bird
going completely off the fairytale narrative now, and just enjoying the fullness and richness of colour that I have got on the pages. I would love to be an edgy illustrator ( and will try some less sweet images soon ) but what seems to come out every time I start to draw just isn't edgy at all.......I am looking at this book and thinking how I was told at college /university when I was studying, that sketchbooks shouldn't be full of finished works, they should be ideas, notes to yourself etc. So I am always hearing a little voice when I work teling me what a waste of time this book is, but, I have decided not to listen too hard to the voices, that it is the process that is leading me here, the process of getting a set of ovals dyed and the gems made and cut out, and making my background patterns.....its all like a meditation, I enjoy the whole making rather than the images themselves, the book is my object, the final piece, I may even seal it so that it can never be opened again. It will be great to have one very full, creaking book, and not have another drawer in my studio choc-a-bloc full of drawing that will get crinkled and dusty, books are the way forward for tidy studio spaces :-)
