I have never been able to 'settle' with one style, medium, size etc in my art works. This has made me uncomfortable, feeling that I should have an identifiable style, but I have been reading David Hockney recently and he feels the same way, he has embraced it, so will I. I like the infinite possibilities out there in the world, i want to try as many things as possible. There are things I have tried....traditional watercolour, awful.... I am stiff and stifled and always want to throw something else into the mix, so I do :-)
These collages are a new area for me, smaller than I usually work, and they slow me down and make me think, not a bad thing, so I will carry on with them for a while. They may get made into paintings......I am enjoying the possibilities..

This is how I feel too.I think it's easier for other people if they can pigeon-hole you and it's easier for marketing too, but what's the point in retreading the same ground if you'd rather be doing something else.
I love your photography ,drawing, painting, collages and other creations but most of all the way you use light and shade ...which seems to run throughout your work.Do it all and enjoy!
thank you so much for your encouragement :-)
These collages are lovely - that is so true what Julia says about there being a thread - which is of course you. It is interesting to find so many artists working in so many ways. Thankyou for your lovely comments today - it really cheered me up :)
I only found your work today and am really pleased I did. I also feel this way about my work and really struggle with those feelings, so it is wonderful to come across someone else in the same situation....you and David Hockney, hey? not bad company! I'll have to read a bit more about him.
Add me to your list of flibberty-jigs! I might actually get good at something if I narrowed my focus to just one subject or style, but then I would get bored! Variety is the spice of life. Keep the paintbrush in one hand and a pair of scissors in the other!
