Previous experience has taught us that the garden will soon be full of dusty trenches and bereft of any plant life, so they are going to have a static coop with freedom only under supervision, usually in the afternoons.
I thought that the dogs would tolerate the hens, they seemed to get on fine until Gert came over and pecked Beezer ( the brown dog ) right between the eyes!!!! feathers an squawking and a running tackle from me separated them........the wire enclosure cannot get here fast enough for me! Now the two little darlings are sitting by the old coop just waiting for a hen to show its head........butter wouldn't melt would it, look at their expressions, they don't want to kill them, they just want to taste one......Lynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06093907699172125920noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3481444228012866974.post-33030930157725468072010-05-08T17:10:00.003+01:002010-05-08T17:11:49.707+01:00where it all began<img style="float:left; I would love to be an edgy illustrator ( and will try some less sweet images soon ) but what seems to come out every time I start to draw just isn't edgy at all.......I am looking at this book and thinking how I was told at college /university when I was studying, that sketchbooks shouldn't be full of finished works, they should be ideas, notes to yourself etc. So I am always hearing a little voice when I work teling me what a waste of time this book is, but, I have decided not to listen too hard to the voices, that it is the process that is leading me here, the process of getting a set of ovals dyed and the gems made and cut out, and making my background patterns.....its all like a meditation, I enjoy the whole making rather than the images themselves, the book is my object, the final piece, I may even seal it so that it can never be opened again. It will be great to have one very full, creaking book, and not have another drawer in my studio choc-a-bloc full of drawing that will get crinkled and dusty, books are the way forward for tidy studio spaces :-)
Lynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06093907699172125920noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3481444228012866974.post-15503449154481428302010-03-06T23:10:00.001+00:002010-03-06T23:10:22.235+00:00fleur

fleur
Originally uploaded by paintistworks
Now with added glitter..... I have started making notes on how the story should go, but i am not really a story teller....like someone once said "if i could put in words why would I need to paint!"
I may put a little outline of the plot on here in a little while, but at the moment I am a little embarrassed to do it :-)

I have been asked about my process and materials..... first of all I go through my book drawing on the pages with felt pen , making my background patterns, I scribble over them a little with water-colour pencils as felt tip is a little harsh sometimes. Then I have made a lot of ink stained papers, random stains so that sometimes they can inspire what goes on the page and I cut out the oval shape I have found fits on the page nicely. The images themselves are really whatever pops into my head, I had started a fairy-tale theme to my images, but they have taken on a life of their own now and I have no idea what the tale is :-) I draw on the inky paper with ordinary felt tip pens, posca pens for the opaque colour and for the black I use a fine liner pen........ I hope all that is what was asked??

Oh, my 'gems' ( I am going a bit over the top with these but I am enjoying them so much :-) ) I use the off-cuts left from making the ovals and then use double sided tape to add them to the drawings :-))Lynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06093907699172125920noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3481444228012866974.post-91733261966779943472010-02-24T14:45:00.001+00:002010-02-24T14:45:04.281+00:00arrival of the bride

arrival of the bride
Originally uploaded by paintistworks
well the bride has made her entrance, but what will happen next? will all go well......hmmmmmmm I really don't know.
All I do know is that if ever I try this again I will have to write out some sort of story, or use a story board......I am having fun though ;-)
Lynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06093907699172125920noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3481444228012866974.post-78911265376459693032010-02-23T14:33:00.003+00:002010-02-23T17:16:03.735+00:00the guests<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 231px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnH5SpTl7dyoqaXc6Am7Iym4hlG-BwEJnmEAlAqeoToNFi61QN5xytQBMPxuATLpvfN5iaaPv1hucy0R30PkpI9TVtfFFJ0Ctxxu8I3lrUBqq2f2LEpOEvYfvdh2OMuoGpDNjDmXqC4ZNQ/s320/IMG_2859.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5441488422336525154" />

the guests
Originally uploaded by paintistworks
latest page...still not sure where this fairytale is going, but I am having fun with the characters.
